Do You Have BSDD? It’s silent and kills. Take the Test.
Here is what you need to know and what you can do to cure burnout, stress dis-ease disorder and create optimal health and wellness.
For much of my business career as a CEO of a Real Estate Investment and development company, I lived by the motto; live by the law of the jungle. Whether you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up, you better run like hell. Have you ever seen video footage of a zebra that outran the lion? They shake it off. Talk about stress.
The pandemic, war, climate, and other challenges have brought on a new wave of burnout and stress into our professional and personal lives. A recent APA survey revealed that 79% of American employees experience work-related stress. According to an Indeed report, more than half of respondents feel burned out. More than two-thirds believe the feeling has worsened throughout the pandemic. About 1 in 4 workers quit their jobs in 2021, and the “Great Resignation” continues.
The cause is burnout and stress, which makes you feel anxious, exhausted, fatigued, dissatisfied, drained, alienated, worried — in your job, workplace, or wherever you go.
“It’s all in the mind”? Maybe everything we experience is not imaginary, but we can resolve it by sorting out our minds. By applying proper mental health and wellness strategies, we can manage our burnout, stress, or the dis-ease that we feel at work or home.
I have coined a particular term for this disorder — BSDD. It is Burnout Stress Dis-ease Disorder.
Take our Life Assessment and discover how prepared you are to manage your stress and life.
What is Burnout?
Burnout is a mental state of exhaustion because of persistent and excessive stress over a period. It involves being emotionally drained and overwhelmed, demotivated, along with a feeling of emptiness and uselessness.
During burnout, you feel hopeless about your career, growth, progress, and life in general. You cannot make decisions and feel disengaged or alienated from your job or responsibilities.
Burnout also happens when you do not meet your expectations. It could be due to various reasons, but you can overcome it by employing the proper techniques or strategies.
What is Stress?
Stress is how your body or mind reacts to a challenge that requires action or attention. It causes physical, mental, or emotional tension.
You cannot cope with the emotional or mental pressure at times, and you feel overwhelmed. Stress triggers chemical reactions in the body, and if you do not take steps to manage it, you may suffer from chronic stress, which will adversely affect your health and life.

What is Dis-ease?
Dis-ease is the state of not being at ease, emotional stability, mental peace, or psychological normalcy. You are not happy with the state of affairs in your life, whether personal or professional.
“Without knowing our true Purpose, we cannot know our true Function. And as a result, the body will function in a state of dis-ease.” ~ From Divine Genius-The Unlearning Curve by Adam C. Hall

Science now shows that BSDD affects your body, heart, emotions, and mind. Burnout adversely affects the brain. It weakens the prefrontal cortex, impacting our abilities to keep memories and pay attention. Not only that, but burnout also enlarges the amygdala, strengthening our “fight-or-flight” emotions such as fear. However, you can avoid this disorder without changing your job, workplace, colleagues, home, or city.
What can you do about BSDD?
All it requires is to change your mindset.
The root problem for BSDD is our thoughts and perception of the mind. Furthermore, depending on how we use our minds and with the right strategies and techniques, you can enhance your mental health and achieve mental wellness.
